Baby E’s Pure Cake Smash – Curious, Confident and Completely Herself
Baby E recently visited the studio for her Pure Cake Smash session, and it was such a lovely way to celebrate her first birthday.
Already walking confidently at just one year old, she spent much of the session exploring her surroundings. She wasn’t the type to sit and beam at the camera—instead, she was quietly curious, taking everything in and investigating the set, the props and, eventually, the cake itself. It was a wonderful reminder that every baby approaches their first birthday in their own unique way.
The warm weather definitely made an appearance during the session too! At one point, Baby E decided she’d had enough of being on her feet and simply stretched out on the studio floor to cool down for a little while. It was such a genuine toddler moment, and one that had everyone smiling. Those unscripted little moments often become some of the most memorable images because they capture children exactly as they are.
One of the things I love most about Pure Cake Smash sessions is that they keep the focus on your little one’s personality. There are no distractions—just beautiful, timeless images that tell the story of this stage of childhood. Baby E’s thoughtful expressions, adventurous spirit and quiet determination shone through from beginning to end.
This session was especially meaningful because I had photographed her big sister’s cake smash when she turned one as well. It was so special to recreate the same milestone for another member of the family and see just how different their personalities were at the same age.
Photographing families as they grow is one of the greatest joys of my job. Watching siblings reach the same milestones while celebrating who they are as individuals is something I never take for granted.
